A couple friends and I are going to be making candles for wedding favors. We have a basic idea. We want to use Gel wax for them. I was just wondering if anyone could advise me on good places to find the wax, wicks, and votive candle holders in bulk. Also, another thing, does anyone know how many pounds of wax I should purchase to fill about 125 votive candle holders approximately 2.5" tall and 2" thick. Any advice at all for my friends and I would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
I used to make candles in my home, but unfortunately no longer have the supplier information for wax, wicks, scents, dyes, molds, etc. There might be other candlemakers you can contact by visiting www.candlecauldron.com.

I’m not sure if I can melt them down and make other candles or if I can make other products out of them. If you have any suggestions please leave them also.
Hi Allison.
Yes you can melt down candles. I do not know your age, please excuse th following safety recommendations if you already know them.
This presents a real fire hazard for the en experienced.
You need a double boiler
Have a fire extinguisher handy.
You can break up long candles so they will fit in the double boiler.
Do not worry about the wicks and other junk.
The wicks can be fished out of the melted wax with a fork.
Other contaminates can be filtered out through a paint strainer available at any paint store.
Recommend pouring melted wax out side or in a garage in case of drips and or spills.

How do I mold and pour wax candles easy ?
Friday, April 30th, 2010got the steps ? wont this take me a dozen hours for 4 pillar candles?
Here’s an easy way to make candles that my dad and I used to use when I was a kid. Start with empty 1/2 gallon milk cartons, or any similar waxy kind of box. With your wax, or paraffin, already melted fill the containers with ice crushed in chunks 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch in size. Shove a regular taper candle down the middle. Pour the hot wax in over the ice. After it cools (it won’t take long with the ice and cold water in there) peel away the carton. You’ll be left with a pilar candle that’s full of really cool looking holes from the ice. I looks really nice as the taper burns down inside the wax. We used regular paraffin and colored it with melted crayons. Have fun!
I want to make an unscented candle that I can add essential oil to as it burns. Any ideas?

Once the entire top of the candle is liquid you can add a few drops. Remember essential oils are oil and thus flamable. This works better if it is a candle in a jar or a pillar rather than a taper.
I burnt a votive candle in a holder, could I use a candle warmer to melt the wax and reuse it?
Friday, April 30th, 2010How about with pillar candles?
Sure it’s all good.
Round here HobbyLobby sells three sizes of new wick by the roll.
Betcha that’s fairly common w/other craft stores.
What kind of wick do I need for soy jar candles?

Do you have to put a mirror under a bowl with floating candles?
Friday, April 30th, 2010
No. That style went out in the early 90s. If you want to have it, then do that, but it really does look better without the mirror and you are not required to have it. Your centerpieces can be anything you want, not what other people say you have to have whose tastes don’t even match yours.
Is anyone looking for some awesome gourmet scented candles?
Friday, April 30th, 2010These are the best scented candles on the market. They have a burn time of 80 to 100 hours. The burn time depends on the scent and the conditions in which the candles are burned. Some scents burn faster than others. Also, these candles do not produce any black soot when they burn. The fragrance is absolutely fabulous. Try them!
You have to tell us how to get them if they are so great
Which do you prefer Soy candles or beeswax? What scent?

I have bought from this retailer before and they were very quick, inexpensive and nothing was broken when I got it.
