Are scented candles okay, or can the fumes interfere with respiratory health, allergies/asthma?

Thursday, May 27th, 2010

I’m wondering basically if I should ditch my scented candles or not. Will they take away from the air quality and make allergies/asthma worse, or basically does it have no effect?

Most people with asthma are sensitive to scents. If you’ve used them before with no issues-then it’s probably ok. I think that ditching the candles is a good idea-better safe than sorry.

Where can i find cheap scented candles?

Monday, May 24th, 2010

I am looking for real good candles at a cheap price. I love candles and so does my husband. I am looking for bunch of them; different sizes and colors…please let me know even if its out of state. thank you
I live in Michigan.

I burn candles at night instead of using electricity – go through a lot of them. For the money, Dollar Stores have the better deal. Their cheap candles burn better than more expensive ones from Wallyworld and other stores.

Question on making soy candles scented with essential oils?

Friday, May 21st, 2010

I want to start making soy candles, and have all the supplies to get started. The only thing I am having a hard time finding info on, is scenting my candles with pure essential oils, not the fragrance oils sold by suppliers.

I know essential oils have a flashpoint, but I am just confused on what flashpoint I need to stay above for the candle to burn safetly. I don’t want to make a candle that will explode! I will be using Ecosoya wax.

Thank you!

If you bought your oil where you bought your wax chances are you bought fragrance oil not essential oil. The flashpoint pertains to your wax. When your melting your wax you need to have a thermometer to gauge the temp. You don’t want it to go beyond the flashpoint because it can explode it has to get pretty hot to reach that point. I heat my wax to 165 degrees to melt and add my dye and fragrance oil then I let it cool to 145 degrees to pour into my containers. This is why you need a thermometer so you can tell how hot your wax is. You also need a pot with a temp. gauge. I use a presto cooker they have them at Wal-mart for $20. You heat your wax slow. If you are using essential oil the scent can evaporate if it gets to hot so don’t put it in to hot of wax. Hope this helps. For candle instructions go to www.candletech.com

Angel Scented Candles Haul

I think these are a really great alternative to Candles by Victoria if you prefer soy wax. I forgot to mention in the video she makes everything by hand when you order so turn around time will be a little longer. Also all her stuff is triple scented and although I haven’t used the tarts yet they smell really good and strong. Let me know if you have any questions or comments!

Regarding FTC:
I don’t receive any products for free from companies for review purposes. The only free items I get are parts of sales, buy one get one free for example, or are free samples thrown in when I place an order.

I don’t have any affiliation with any of these companies and they do not pay me to do reviews.

I buy everything with my own money!

Do scented candles and potpourri attract insects like ants and mosquitoes?

Friday, May 14th, 2010

I don’t want that but I love the scent of potpourri and aromatherapy candles, but am afraid it might attract ants into my bedroom.

Not in my experience. Keep the food out of the room and the screens new, without holes, and you should have no problems. If you don’t have screens on the windows, keep the windows closed.

Can scented candles attract bugs? Especially food scented ones?

Friday, May 14th, 2010

I have vanilla and apple pie scented candles, and after thinking about it, I’m a little worried that the sweet smells will attract bugs looking for food. Is this true? If so, what scents DON’T attract bugs? Is lavender a safer bet?

i don’t think that they would.
