how to keep a fresh smelling home?

Thursday, May 27th, 2010

I make my own febreez (just baking soda, water and liquid fabric softner) i keep baking soda boxes sitting around . i try not to use gel or spray air fresheners.do unscented candles actually help?…any other suggestions?

I agree with you about those scented air fresheners. Just read the warning labels and that is enough for me besides my nose really acts up with those. Some time ago, a friend recommended a product called fridge-IT activated carbon odor absorbers to take care of the smell that was coming from under my sink and trash area. I tried it and it really worked great and without fragrances that just cover up the odor. Since then, I now use Fridge IT odor absorbers just about everywhere around the house to keep those lingering smells away. I buy them usually at Linens N Things but also on line at www.innofresh.com. They have other products I like too.

Electric Potpourri / light bulb Tart Warmer / Candle question?

Monday, May 24th, 2010

I have an electric (plug in) potpourri pot for the liquid & gel potpourri. But I was wondering if you can use it to melt wax as a tart warmer?
Also, I know there are tart warmers that use a light bulb, & ones that use an unscented candle, but do they both work the same? I guess it’s hard for me to believe that a light bulb burner can melt wax enough?
Do you think tart warmers smell as strong as candles?

Yes..you can use it as a tart warmer..my mom does all the time…

The little light bulbs get hotter then you think..hehe

Tart warmers smell stronger most of the time because all of the wax or gel is in contact with the hot surface…..on candles..only a small part of the wax is against the flame…

hope this helps

What are the by products of a burning candle?

Friday, May 21st, 2010

I want to know what is produced when a candle is burned? and I want to know if it is harmful to plants to have burning candles around. Just regular unscented tea candles.

it is not going to harm your plants for no more than you will have it lit. Carbon monoxide is let off when you have candles lit. You might check out www.hsn.com and www.qvc.com both carry "flameless" candles using led lights in a variety of sizes, shapes, and forms, including the tea lights!
