Using floating candles without water?

I was just wondering if it would be safe to use floating candles without water? I don’t have any candle holders so I’d just put it on top of a ceramic bowl or plate but then would the wax just pool everywhere?

But would it be safe to use the candles without water?

Just put the candles inside the bowl instead of on top of it

    yea it would but then later you would have to clean up the wax.
