Why are taper candles made smaller than the candleholders? You always have to stick foil in the bottom.?
Tapered candles come in all sizes, base-wise. You will find the cheaper the candle, the less wax, therefor the skinnier the base! Go to a nice gift shop, take your holder with you (or measure it at home), you’ll find just the right size. Besides, more expensive candles burn longer and cleaner, worth the money.

As the candles burn the wax will run down the side and seal them. You can also, light the candle and hold the candle so that wax will drip into the holder and then quickly insert the candle.
